Students are starting the final math unit of the year. This unit will have them writing and representing functions for linear and non-linear relationships. This is an area of mathematics that allows for stretching and growth regardless of students' prior understanding. I will be looking to see that students can understanding and connect unit rates and equations. Those who can already do so, will be integrating what they already know in algebra to functions and function notation. Students will also be working with units and writing functions to convert units of measurement.

Tonight's homework is to represent their walk-don't-run walking rate in at least two ways. Here is the handout students got today. They put it in their binder where they can refer to it throughout the unit.
